The trades you hire, free · your own list on Plus
The companies you
are watching.
A company you watch stays on your account. Every morning we read Companies House and The Gazette for it, and when something new is true of it you find it in your notifications. When you hire a trade whose company is on the register, it is watched for you, free, until a year after the job ends. On Plus, a tradesperson watches up to 10 companies of their own. We charge no company for its own record.
Add a company
A name gives you the companies it matches, and you pick one. A number is eight characters from the certificate of incorporation: eight numbers, or two letters and six numbers. Sole traders and ordinary partnerships do not file at Companies House, so there is nothing to watch for them.
Told in your notifications. Every morning we read the register for each company on your list. When a filing or a director's identity verification statement falls due within 30 days or goes overdue, a notice is published in The Gazette, or a strike-off is proposed, it is in your notifications, once. What is already true when you add a company is on its record, not sent to you again.

Why this is worth two minutes
The fine goes up on a tier
Accounts filed late cost 150 pounds up to a month, 375 up to three, 750 up to six, and 1,500 beyond that. File late two years running and every one of those doubles. Most small companies do not know the tiers exist until they are on one.

Not to you. For a lot of small trades that address is an accountant they stopped using or a flat they left. A strike-off proposal gives two months before the company is dissolved and what it owns passes to the Crown, and the clock runs whether the letter was read or not.

We tell you a date is coming. Filing is still yours to do and the legal duty stays with the company and its officers. If we are wrong, late or silent, the duty is unchanged, so treat this as a second pair of eyes rather than the only pair.
