MemoBefore you pay a deposit, read the public record for the company you are about to pay. Every line comes from Companies House or The Gazette, carries the date it happened and the date we read it, and links to the original. We do not score anyone. We show you the record and let you decide.
UK limited companies only. Sole traders and ordinary partnerships do not file at Companies House, so there is no record here to read, and we will say so rather than show you an empty page.

It is not a prediction
About one company in 200 in England and Wales entered insolvency in the year to August 2026. Anything claiming to pick them out in advance is wrong far more often than it is right, and it is wrong about a named business in front of the person about to hire them. So we do not try.

It is not about the work
More than half the home improvement complaints Citizens Advice received in a year were about the quality of the work, not money. A company can file everything on time and still fit your kitchen badly. The register has nothing to say about that.

It is as fresh as its source
Every line carries the moment it was read. Companies House can change a company's status without a filing appearing, so a record read an hour ago is a record read an hour ago, and we date it rather than imply it is live.
