Hyyryn

About Hyyryn

Fair to both sides.

Hyyryn sits in the middle of a job. The money is held at Stripe until the work is signed off, so one side never pays and hopes and the other never works and hopes. Every step leaves a record both of you can see and neither of you can change.

The mark is the method

Two people, one record across the top

Both sides carry a risk, at different moments, so each ends up asking the other to go first. The record goes across both of them.

The record is laid across both of them: every step dated, sealed, and seen by both.

One post

The homeowner

Carries the risk before the work: paying for something they have not seen yet.

  1. 1 · Price agreedSees the full price, in writing, before paying anything.
  2. 2 · Money heldPays, but not to them. The money is held at Stripe against the job, and moves only as the terms say.
  3. 3 · Work recordedSees each photograph and message as it is filed, sealed with its time.
  4. 4 · Signed off, paidReleases the money when satisfied. Do nothing, and it is released when the time to check runs out.

The homeowner getsthe money held until they sign the work off.

What we are

Six claims, and what each can be checked against

The money waits at Stripe, not with us.

Accepting a price charges the card, and the payment is held at Stripe against the job. It is never paid out to a bank account of ours. It goes to the tradesperson when the work is signed off, the time to check it runs out, or a dispute decides; or it comes back to the homeowner.

Paid by one side, once.

5%from the tradesperson, when the money is released. Never more than £500. Nothing from the homeowner.

On a £2,400 job, the tradesperson pays £120. The homeowner pays £0.

A record that outlives the argument.

What we will not do

Five things, never

Each one is a way a marketplace makes money that we have decided against. Written here so that it can be held against us.

  • Never

Sell a position in the results.

No tradesperson can pay to be listed higher, marked out, or shown first. What you see is what the search asked for.

  • Never

    Charge for leads.

A trade pays nothing to quote and nothing to be contacted. A platform paid per lead is paid whether or not the lead was any good, which is the wrong incentive pointed at the wrong person.

  • Never

    Pay your money to ourselves.

A payment is held at Stripe against your job and is never paid out to a bank account of ours. Our fee comes only from what the tradesperson is paid, and only when it is released. Terms, section 4

  • Never

    Sell what you tell us.

Your job description, your address, your messages and your photographs are yours. They are not a product and they are not sold on. Privacy, in full

  • Never

Claim a check we have not done.

Where something is not built yet, this site says so on the page it belongs to, in the same words, rather than in a footnote. The current example is below.

What is running, what is being built, what is next

The payment, the record and the disputes

Built and running: the payment held at Stripe, the time to check the work, the evidence and its fingerprints, and a dispute that freezes the money where it is.

Checking right to work, credentials and insurance

Nobody is shown or can send a price until their right to work in the UK is checked. A person looks at the registrations and insurance a tradesperson adds, and a profile shows only what was checked and is in date. Still being built: stopping anyone without Gas Safe or Part P from pricing gas or electrical work, at any value, because those are the law.

Spreading the cost of a bigger job

Letting homeowners with a good record on Hyyryn pay for a larger job in instalments, with the tradesperson still paid in full. Not available, and nothing on this site offers it. If it comes, it will be through a lender authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority, and it will say so here first.

An idea, not an offer

If a line here is wrong, tell us, and the correction goes on the record too.
