What asking means
Three things are true the moment you send this, and they stay true until you accept a price.
- Asking is free Nothing is agreed and nothing is charged until you accept a price. You can ask as many tradespeople as you like. What it costs you: nothing
- Your address stays yours They see your district, not your street. The one you accept can see the postcode on your account, and you give them the rest in messages. Who sees what
- Payment protection Once you accept and pay, the money is held at Stripe against the job until you release it, your time to check runs out, or a dispute decides. The tradesperson can see it is there and cannot take it. How payment protection works

They read it themselves and reply with a price, or with a question if something is missing. Nothing is agreed and nothing is charged.
- Their price, or their question, arrives on the job in My jobs, and you are told by email.
- Compare it, ask about it, or decline it. Asking another tradesperson is always open to you.
- Accept it and pay. The money is held at Stripe until you release it, your time to check runs out, or a dispute decides.
