How payment protection works
You pay in full when you accept a price. The money is held at Stripe, not paid to the tradesperson, until it is released: when you release it, or automatically 3 days (under £500) or 5 days (£500 and above) after the finishing photographs are agreed, unless you raise a dispute first (terms, 4 and 8.1).
- Before the work starts you can cancel and get everything back.
- If the work has not started 85 days after you paid, you are refunded in full automatically.
- If they do not come, raise a dispute and choose “No show”: where the evidence shows they did not come and the work did not start, you are refunded in full (8.3A).
- Nothing on top of the price: the tradesperson pays Hyyryn’s fee. Payment protection, in full
Photographs of the work
Photographs are filed on the job when the work starts and when it finishes, and each is fingerprinted when it is filed, so a changed copy can be told from the original. You see them on the job before any money is released.
- You can release a payment once the starting photographs are agreed.
- A photograph you do not contest within 48 hours is treated as agreed (8.2).
- In a dispute both of you can add evidence, and it is decided on the photographs, the messages and what was agreed.
If something goes wrong
Raise a dispute from the job before the money is released. It stays held at Stripe while the dispute is open.
- Whoever did not raise it has 4 days to respond, and both of you can add evidence until it is decided.
- Disputes are decided by written rules, sometimes automatically. The money can go to either of you, or be divided (8.3).
- Hyyryn aims to decide within 14 days; one not decided by then goes to a person at Hyyryn, and both of you are told (8.4).
- You can always ask a person to decide again, and you can still go to court.
